HEREiAM

Broadband services via television

HEREiAM focusses on care and welfare for elderly via low-threshold technology; the combination of technology and services could contribute to living longer at home independently and an improved quality of life. Elderly often don't have the equipment or skills to fully enjoy the possibilities of modern technology.

Therefore, HEREiAM chooses a accessible and user-friendly service platforms that are offerend on TV. The Netherlands are the European leader in the field of development and use of service platforms for care and welfare. Nevertheless, there's no wide application of this yet. In the first year of the project, the Dutch market was evaluated, and the elderly were getting used to service platforms already on the market. Strenghts and weaknesses were sketched, and the target group was asked about the possibilities and expectations.

The decision was made to use an Android architecture and a B2B2C business model within two years. In this way, the HEREiAM platform was delivered to end users organisations who then forward it to their clients. Because of the open Android architecture, API's and SDK's, the integration of services of external service deliverers has been made possible. In view of durable solutions, endusers-organisations and service deliverers are intensively involved in further development, evaluatoin and business planning.

Thereafter, the system and services were integrated in a lab-environment, which is the Smartest Home in the Netherlands The technical system is in tune with the Dutch targetgroup and personalised with Dutch services. Subsequently, the HEREiAM system was evaluated for functionality and user-friendliness. On the basis of these outcomes, the necessary adjustments can be made, preparatory the system was installed in 25 homes, to evaluate the use of HEREiAM together with KempenLIFE.
