The need for interoperability
Integration, interoperability, modularity and reliability are important criteria for a successful implementation of technological solutions. The added value of a home network is not dependable on a single system, but on the way how different systems are connected and complement each other. Through such an integrated network, services can be offered in various fields such as comfort, safety, entertainment, energy management and care & wellbeing.
Smart Homes believes in open platforms. Open means that the platform can be extended with third-party services. Thereby it is possible that service providers can easily add their own created service to an existing platform. It is important that guidelines are drawn up where service provides should be allow to when it comes to integrating their services.
By the separation between housing and care, which currently takes place in the Netherlands, the demand for services, which are delivered at the resident at home, shall only be increased. Therefore a platform that makes it possible to integrate services from different parties, so the resident doesn’t have to use different interfaces, is more than ever needed.
